I have been cutting SVBers out of my vines all season long. The only way I have been able to kill the adults has been to catch them because once I spray them, they quickly fly away. FRUSTRATION! My husband helped me out by finding this orange oil. I put some in my spray bottle (with water and a small bit of soap), and I actually killed adult Squash Vine Borers with it. WAHOO! These things have been the bane of my existence this spring. I did have to spray them a couple of time; however, this oil messed them up enough that I was able to get more than one spray in since they couldn't fly well anymore. I thought I'd post because I'm sure there are others who are also at their wits end with these insects! You can probably find other brands than the one I posted, but this is the one I used. One warning: be careful not to make your solution to strong because it will dry your leaves out if you put more in your spray than the bottle recommends. It smells great; it's organic, and ants hate it too.
Thanks for posting Missy! I reposted this on our FB page too. We haven't tried it (yet), so cannot explicitly endorse it, but I'm glad you posted! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
