For Our Own Goods - FOOGS

I've gardened for years and like to plant what I call a "salsa garden"; basically anything that you can put into salsa.  My son ( a chef) added an herb garden last year and we've really enjoyed our rosemary bush, cilantro and basil as well.
My husband and I love edamame and wondered if anyone has tried growing soybeans?  I've never seen them grown or offered for sale locally but that doesn't mean we can't try!  Just wanted to see if anyone else has had any experience with them.  I'd love to be able to run out to the garden instead of the frozen food section at the local grocer.
We're renting our tiller this evening and can't wait to smell that wonderful black dirt tomorrow morning!

Just noticed the date stamp on my photo . . . guess dropping the camera a few times DOES take it's toll! I took this on Monday. Really.

Cindy,
Can't wait to hear about your planting adventures this weekend. Maybe you could upload some photos or video of your garden?

Thanks!
Ty

Let us know how it goes. It's been slow going for mine. I have the tendency to group "beans" into one category and regular green beans seem to sprout overnight. (Our snow peas went crazy last year!) Less than half of the seeds I planted have sprouted but one seems to emerge daily. I think I'll plant a second round this weekend regardless; extend the growing season as it were. We steamed a giant bowl of edamame last night and all I could think about was steaming "my own" in a couple of months! Good luck!

I was able to find seeds at my local nursery here in Dallas. I was going to plant some last year, but because life got in the way, I never really got to plant much but lettuce and herbs. This year I have it all in, including some edamame. I am looking forward to some nice dishes with the home grown goodness.
