Hey Camilo- I have a copy of Food, Inc. if you want to borrow it. I admit, i am not as good about reading as I should be :) but i will add "The Omnivore's Dilemma" to my list to reading list. The Austin Farmers market really expanded this week into the next door Republic Square Park. It was amazing. More crafts and foods that produce, however there is no waiting list for farmers to get a booth. My Dad, Tom is looking at securing one soon. YAY! Looking forward to meeting you in person!

Hi, Rachel and everybody --

I just joined the group, having received an invitation from my friend Ali in Austin ;) I just discovered the Harlingen market last month, and it was only a little late :( But I like it and will recommend it. Having Sun Harvest in McAllen was a blessing, too.
I am leaving the Valley in a week, going back to Elgin and a slightly better access to good healthy food. But, keep up the good work and I will be sure to let everyone I know here in Alamo about FOOGS.
I might become a winter regular, too, if things work out: I was here working on controlling invasive trees on wildlife refuge lands and the problem will be here from now on (google "invasive trees" for some horror stories). Good news is recognition of the problem is spreading almost as fast.
Meantime, the quest for good eats must supercede everything. For those that haven't yet, I recommend reading "The Omnivore's Dilemma." I haven't yet seen it, but I hear "Food Inc" is a must-see movie.
I travel a lot with my work and I found my favorite market (so far) in Columbia, MO, last summer. No slight meant to the Austin Markets or anybody else. The movement must GROW!
Good going, everybody.
Camilo
