For Our Own Goods - FOOGS

I was in permaculture class on Saturday and I heard the term BioDynamic Farming for the first time, so I wanted to do a little research. Biodynamic agriculture is a method of organic farming with homeopathic composts that treats farms as unified and individual organisms, emphasizing balancing the holistic development and interrelationship of the soil, plants, animals as a self-nourishing system without external inputs insofar as this is possible given the loss of nutrients due to the export of food.

Here was a nice little video I found.

What Is Biodynamic Farming?

That's all for now. Happy gardening!

I know of a lot of wines that are produced biodynamically. That is why they usually put in roses at the end of each row of vines...In the Napa Valley, as throughout the wine regions of France, you'll frequently see roses planted along the edge of vineyards. Traditionally they've served as an early warning system to protect the grapevines—the equivalent of a miner's canary.

Roses and grapevines are both susceptible to a fungus called powdery mildew. In fact, roses are more sensitive than grapevines. Thus, the vineyard is saved. Here is a list of organic (some are biodynamic) vineyards:

Chavez & Leeds Vineyards
Emilio's Terrace Vineyard
Frog Farm (Frogs Leap Winery)
Johnston Vineyards
Juliana Vineyards
Lisa's Vineyard
Madonna Vineyards (Mt. Saint John Organic Farm)
Moore Vineyards
Napa Wine Company
Navone Vineyards
Niebaum-Coppola Estate
O'Malley Vineyard
Primativo Vineyards
Pringle Family Vineyards, Inc.
Spottswoode Vineyard
Terra Vin, Inc.
Volker Eisele Vineyard
Yolo Moon Herb Farm
Yount Mill Vineyards
ZD Wines

Thanks for sharing, and here is a site that would be helpful in learning more about biodynamics and even more...it is the site for Biodynamic Gardening and Farming Association..
www.biodynamics.com.
Also, demeter-usa.org.... is the only dertification agent for biodynamic farming and one can learn a lot from the info. they have on their web site.
