Yeah, okay, okay...so it's still too early to be expecting the carrots to be ready. But, given that this is the first time I've actually gotten carrots to sprout let alone grow, this has been an exciting and curious time for me and my 5 year old daughter, Samantha. Carrots aren't the only thing we've got growing, but they seem to have captivated her beyond imagination, especially the rainbow patch we have planted. Hopefully, all that thinning in that little patch, didn't thin out the purples and whites and pinks that were on the package...She's really looking forward to eating a purple carrot.

At any rate, I found some more carrots that I decided were just too close together, but they weren't that close. So, picking and choosing, I pulled some. Most, were tiny threads, and nothing to write home about. But by golly! We got two..yes, folks, two small Nantes carrots out of the patch today. Thankfully, that makes one for each of us, Sam and I, and Daddy doesn't like carrots, so we're all happy with this!

My lone lettuce head finally had to come up today. It got mixed in with carrot seed, and I didn't notice it until it was recognizable as lettuce. So, until today, it's been keeping the carrots company, with me cutting leaves here and there for burgers and tacos. Tonight, I'll make a bit of a green salad with it, and some snow peas from our pea patch.

Whoohoo! Time to go make some dinner!
