Well... lots of activity here lately, huh?

Loquats should be ripening in the area in the very near future, if they're not already.  Does anyone know of some good trees somewhere between Driftwood and Wild Basin or thereabouts where I can collect some?  I don't have any big enough growing here yet.

I do know of a big pair on Stassney, just west of Congress.  They're on either side of a parking lot entrance, right on the street, in front of an Auto Zone.  They're loaded.  I don't get over that way often, but happened to pass by last Saturday evening and they were still green.

Let me know if you get some of those, and how they taste.

Hi folks,

Anyone pruning their Muscadine or other table grapes that are performing well for you in the Austin area who'd be willing to supply me with some scions for grafting?

I can offer various pear, peach, and plum scions in return, as well as a couple of fig varieties if you're interested.

Thanks!

My girlfriend and i just moved here from SF in January and immediately started growing veggies (our first real try). So glad to find this group! Would love to meet people that are interested in food - eat, drink, be merry - i live for that. Dinner party sound obvious, right? I spotted the first tomatoes on a couple of our plants this week. I would love to set something up when everyone's tomatoes are in full swing (mid june?) - tasting party/dinner?? we are growing 7 different plants - brandywine, striped german, celebrity, sungold, arkansas traveller, yellow brandywine, black krim.

i also like making sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, canning stuff, drying stuff, making hot sauces, making stocks, etc. etc. very interested in sharing and trading knowledge. pretty good at making food, just now learning how to grow it and very excited about it.
