What did you grow first?
I am not yet a gardener. I would love to be one, but I'm not sure where to start. Inspire me by sharing the story of your first garden. What did you grow? What challenges did you have to overcome? What tips would you have for someone just starting out?

How about we go even better? How about if FOOGS comes out with a garden bed and leaves you with a garden 2 hours later? :). Btw, 1st things we planted at my house were tomatoes and green beans. VERY EASY! ;)

Well, it depends on where you live, i started growing the plants i loved most and then grew others the next year that interested me. and it also depends on if you want to sell them, share or trade in the neighborhood, or just eat them yourself and with your with your family. If you want to sell in your neighborhood you should find out what plant sells well in your area. You have to decide if it is easy for you to grow, if you have enough space for it and if you can make your money back. Remember you have water your garden daily, buy starter plants or seeds, and you might have pest problems when you start to grow whichever plant you choose.
I suggest you take it slow and grow for yourself for a while til you get the hang of it.
Research your area to find the best plants to grow in your region. There are books in the library and plenty of magazines to get you started. I personally like Sunset Magazine
