I guess people like the thought of having 20+ fresh, organic eggs per week at their disposal. I have a had a marge number of inquiries about raising chickens, so I have decided to include this link.

This is a movement that is picking up steam in a VERY big way, and it's easy to see why!
The benefits of chickens are numerous:

1 - They are quiet (mostly - they make a noise when they are about to lay - total time, about 5 minutes/day)
2 - They are low maintenance - feed 'em, water 'em and you are good!
3 - Watching them reduces stress - kind of like a poultry aquarium :)
4 - They provide food for you and your family!
5 - They eat fleas and ticks as well as other bugs from your backyard
6 - They leave your vegetable gardens alone
7 - If you run out of food, they'll eat just about anything to get by until you get some more food! (Frozen veggies are a favorite!)

Ty, great post...Just wait until my mother gets a hold of this site. A year ago she bought a few chickens and now she has a small zoo. She now has Cowboy Chickens, Pheasants, Guinea, Pens & feed supplies, cages....I bet she is ready to start bartering with other Foogs members!
