Hey Bill! Yea, I'm back in Austin working for Urban Roots-- a youth development program on an organic veggie farm. I had my own little fire escape garden in Brooklyn, NY, and I worked on a 6,000 sq foot rooftop farm in Brooklyn: http://rooftopfarms.org/
I'm excited to be a part of the FOOGS community!

Maybe a Chattanooga group for me? I hope you enjoyed your holiday in Franklin and thanks for the note. I hope to see more folks from this area, too. I'm new to gardening and a lot to learn!!

Thanks for your welcome. Here's an idea to help spread the word. How about clicking here to add a link to foogs to our registry of local groups, companies and other organizations supporting the values your group and our group have in common. This makes foogs visible and important to all our members. What do you think? Let me know when you have questions.

Tomato Bug Problem - Make a Chili Pepper Spray - puree about 5 or 6 chilis with a gallon of water, then strain the water into a clean spray bottle. Then Spray your tomatoes. The bugs should leave. Try it and let me know what happens!

Leslie,
Great timing on your question! I am actually talking to some people at Natural Gardener and Great Outdoors about co-sponsoring some programs exactly like what you are talking about in Austin. We also have similar interest in the Dallas area and we are working on a program up there too! I would really like to standardize how we approach this so that we can increase not only student interest, as well as school faculty and staff and most importantly, parents! I wonder if it would be a good idea to talk about using your school as a FOOGS "school-garden-lab" for lack of a better word.

Thanks you for your interest and your obvious passion (as the leader of your school's garden club) for this subject! You are exactly the type of person FOOGS is looking for! (We just need a couple million more of you! :))

thats great. I also am the leader for my schools garden club. We planted a winter garden at the school today! If you know of any experts who could speak to my group, it would be great. I teach at a low socio economic school and the kids have no exposure to organic gardening.
