I had the wrong zip in my profile. i ahve since fixed it. I'm still trying to track down the person who owns that piece of property..I'm hoping to have the information soon so I can get a move on this community project.
Hey - you rock too! As a matter of fact, I would like to borrow Food Inc (I would like to screen it for friends & neighbors who have heard me talk about it). When I was in Columbia (MO) they ended the week-long run with a discussion but I worked late and missed it. I would like to meet you anyway and yes I would also like an intro to Dick and the whole Citizen Gardener thing. It sounds kinda subsersive -- just what the world needs now!
We can set something up next week for whenever is good for everybody. My neighbors told me that my water lines froze (and broke) in 2 places; it got down to around 10 degrees in the country outside Elgin so I already have (extra) chores. Get this: I think it dropped to 32 degrees for a little while on 2 occasions here in the Valley and it was not a real "freeze" as plants define things. Other than that it's been real warm -- T-shirt weather most of the time!
I also have to put up the greenhouse walls so I too can get an early start on spring. I am expecting another very good year and I think FOOGS is gonna be a big part of it, so I will make myself as available as possible.
YAY, Revlynn! It's the perfect time to start. So, first a couple of questions.....
1. Are you interested in building the garden structures yourself or have someone build them for you?
2. Are you wanting to have someone help with design and layout of a garden?
3. Do you have an area that gets at least six hours of sun a day?
4. When you think of eating from a garden..what produce do you think of? This is what I recommend we start with!
5. How much time do you want to spend tending your garden, daily/weekly?
6. Are you open to composting?
This will help us get started and put you all on the right path to eating the freshest of vegetables!
Just wanted to say hi. Thanks for letting me know about the Saturday event; enjoyed it much, it was uplifting and heartfelt. Looking forward to more gatherings working toward a common purpose. See you soon.
yeah - haven't made it over there. I have Sun Harvest right by me, WF up the road, and a decent HEB with quite a bit of organic/local, so I haven't fell the need to venture that far afield for groceries. Did you see anything notable?
