Hi Ty.  Great work on Create your own edible flower garden.  We've republished the video on our Mimic This! blog -- visible to our users on Ning, Twitter and Facebook.  We also linked to your larger video collection.  Thanks for the inspiring concept of gardening.

Actually I moved recently and I am now closer to Cleavland. I live in an area of Ohio that was largely agricultural and still is, but there has been a lot of suburban development. I was really excited to find your site because I moved back home for the very reason of becoming more connected to where my goods come from. I want to produce and not merely consume.

Next time I'll shoot with my canon camera and not the nasty cell hone. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome! Actually, the straw bale is something on saw on the internet a year ago and decided I was definitely going to try. I will definitely check out the herbal straw garden you mentioned!

A good friend told me about your site. Then last week on news 8 austin they talked about you all and soooo here we are today. I'm a memeber of and network with: (WCABA) Williamson County Area Beekkeepers Assoc. This organization has grown a lot over the past year. Our last meeting in Georgetown we had 110 memebers show up. WOW! Double from last year. Im not sure how many members there is, but I would guess 200-300+.

Thanks, Ty. I am just getting started with my backyard garden. This year the plan is to keep it small. I have a 4 year old who loves to work in the yard and an 18 month old who loves to play outside. I am hoping that as they get older we can work together to grow healthy foods and have lots of fun doing it. We always had a garden when I was growing up and I have lots of good memories of working in the garden. This will be my first attempt at a garden of my own and I know I will be able to use lots of input. This year it will be tomatoes, strawberries and hopefully some blueberries. Next year when my 18 month old is older we can expand and try all sorts of other things. This is our start up year and we are very excited about it!

A DFW meet and greet sounds fun. Are the Austin FOOGS doing anything for the Austin Green Living Expo weekend? I am mulling over heading down there that weekend. My wife and I will jump at almost any excuse for an Austin trip.

Hi Ty. I'm looking at the pictures trying to get motivated/ideas. I was thinking of trying to grow some sort of vegetable with the kids.....but I'm thinking it needs to be something easy for our first try. I was looking at the pictures of your bell peppers and squash. Can you grow that in a pot/planter or do they get too big? We have a lot of clay in our yard, I'm thinking it might be harder to grow in the ground.....plus we have lots of bunnies in the neighborhood and was thinking I could move the pot where they cant' reach it.

Here's a pic of my first raised bed with some onion sets and others freshly planted seeds. Let the growing begin!

Hey Ty,
Things are going well. I've got my heirloom non-gmo seeds and just finished constructing a raised bed yesterday. Hoping to get some spinach, onion, garlic, broccoli, and parsley planted today. I'll post a picture or two. Two problems, with one solution: dog leaped over the small fence yesterday and pranced around in the bed. I'll be getting a higher fence. Two - I'm going to attach a regular soaker hose to the sprinkler system where a head was, but now I've got two other sprinkler heads on the same zone that water other parts of the yard. I've yet to figure out how to put those heads on another zone. If I leave the zone on as long as needed for the soaker hose then the other parts of the yard in that zone will be over-watered. Also might have water pressure porblems in other zones if I put too many heads in one zone. Any thoughts?

I'm attempting to get a comunity garden started in my neighborhood but it's slow going. I'd like to know how others are set up and maybe do something along those lines. In the meantime, I'm going to making a visit to the Natural Gardener this week to pick up seedlings/seed and other supplies.

Regarding yours, I have never been able to speak out about this so articulately. I share your pain and agree with your premises; more and more I am coming to see that spreading the word is as important as growing the food. Thanks for your work on the website and keep on keepin' on. . .
